England's unseeded Lauren Siddall claimed an unexpected place in the quarter-finals of the Women's Brest Squash Open when she upset Margriet Huisman, the sixth seed from the Netherlands, 9-2 9-7 9-1.

The 19-year-old from Pontefract in Yorkshire will now meet Katline Cauwels after the fourth-seeded Belgian beat Dagmar Vermeulen 6-9 9-1 9-5 10-8.

Laurence Bois also failed to survive the first round in a domestic upset.  After taking a 2/0 lead, the seventh seed was overcome 7-9 5-9 9-0 9-6 9-6 by French compatriot Floch Pascale - who goes on to meet England's Dominique Lloyd-Walter after the top seed whitewashed France's Anne Le Pabic 9-0 9-0 9-0.
