England dropped their first match of the tournament against hosts Belgium, the fourth seeds, when Emma Beddoes went down 4-9 6-9 9-5 1-9 to Belgium's Charlie De Rycke in a repeat of last week's women's individual final. Emphatic straight games victories by Laurence Delasaux, the men's individual title-holder, and Chris Simpson over Rik Smet and Bart Govaerts, respectively, put England into the final where they will be hoping to win the title for the 20th year in succession. In the other semi-final, France beat Germany, the third seeds. |
