Seeds Vanquished In Vaduz

Three of the four seeds expected to contest the semi-finals of the Interlingua Liechtenstein Squash Open failed to overcome quarter-final hurdles at the Squash House in the European principality's capital Vaduz.

Australian favourite Paul Price, the world No20 from Melbourne, suffered a recurrence of a back injury and was forced to retire during the fourth game against fifth seed Wael El Hindi.

The 15-13 5-15 15-5 12-10 upset takes the Egyptian into a semi-final against eight seed Borja Golan after the Spaniard dismissed Scotland's third seed Martin Heath 17-16 15-9 15-6 in 56 minutes.

Italy's Davide Bianchetti also claimed a surprise semi slot with a 15-11 15-7 15-10 victory over fourth-seeded South African Rodney Durbach.  The 27-year-old from Brescia, whose career was revitalised by a shock victory over top seed Peter Nicol in last December's World Open, will now face second seed Alex Gough for a place in the final.

Gough survived the all-Welsh clash against qualifier David Evans, the reigning and eight-times holder of the Welsh National title, winning 15-9 9-15 15-5 15-11 in 68 minutes.
