SQUASH NEWS RESULTS: Catella Swedish Open Squash Championship, Linköping, Sweden Final: [3] Karim Darwish (EGY) bt [5] Nick Matthew (ENG) 15-12, 15-13, 15-10 (60m) Swedish Open Delivers Darwish Hat-Trick Egypt's Karim Darwish claimed his third PSA Tour title of the year in convincing style in Linköping following a straight games win over England's Nick Matthew in the final of the Catella Swedish Open Squash Championship. The former world junior champion from Cairo, the third seed, started as marginal favourite in the final as fifth seed Matthew had played two mammoth matches during the two previous days - against Australia's fourth seed Joseph Kneipp in the quarter finals and then, in the finest match ever seen at the event, against compatriot James Willstrop in the semi final. Darwish, who triumphed over Canada's former world No1 Jonathon Power in the semi-finals, controlled the pace in the first game with carefully placed drives and efficient volleying - his opponent certainly not playing at the same speed as he had earlier. The pair provided a fitting finale to the $30,000 PSA event, as Darwish relentlessly crafted his 15-12 15-13 15-10 victory in exactly one hour to add the Swedish Open title to the Dayton and Apawamis Open trophies he garnered in the USA in January.
