Kawy, the world No16 from Cairo, now faces top seed Vicky Botwright, the world No11 who survived a close clash with New Zealand's Shelley Kitchen, beating the No7 seed 9-6 10-8 6-9 10-9.

The other semi-final will feature experienced second seed Fiona Geaves and young third seed Jenny Duncalf, the world No15.  World No9 Geaves endured a nerve-racking five games against Hong Kong's sixth seed Rebecca Chiu before beating the Asian Games champion 9-2 7-9 9-6 4-9 9-3.
