Jenson Makes Marsh & McLennan Final

Australian qualifier Dan Jenson is one victory away from his tenth PSA Tour title after beating England's Mark Chaloner in the semi-finals of the Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Squash Open in Rye, New York.

At 5-5 in the first game, seventh-seeded Chaloner twisted his ankle and took a three-minute injury break.  "I went back on court, but was only able to move in straight lines!" said the 31-year-old from Lincoln.  "I tried to play on, but couldn't do my self justice, so had to retire after the end of the second game."

In the final, Jenson, the former world No5 from Adelaide now ranked 33 in the world, will face Egypt's No2 seed Karim Darwish, the world No9 from Cairo who beat Canada's Cairo-born Shahier Razik 15-12 15-2 15-17 15-4.

The women's final will be the match predicted by the seedings committee - with USA's top seed Natalie Grainger taking on second-seeded Englishwoman Linda Charman.  Washington-based Grainger swept to a 9-0 9-3 10-8 victory over Egypt's world junior champion Omneya Abdel Kawy, the fourth seed, while Charman, from Eastbourne in Sussex, defeated compatriot Vicky Botwright, the No3 seed, 9-2 9-6 9-1.
