English qualifier Alexandra Norman achieved her best ever result on the WISPA World Squash Tour when she upset third-seeded Canadian Tara Mullins in the quarter-finals of the Women's Sun & Surf Open to reach the last four of the $8,000 Tour event at the Jericho Tennis Club in Vancouver, Canada.
Originally from Nottingham, Norman is now based in the Canadian city of Montreal and competing in only the second Tour event of her career. But the 25-year-old fought back from a game down to beat Mullins 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 5-11, 11-5 to make her Vancouver breakthrough.
Norman will now face another Canadian, second seed Runa Reta, for a place in the final.
The other semi-final will also be an Anglo-Canadian affair in which Suzie Pierrepont, the top seed from Sussex who is now based in Philadelphia in the USA, takes on Carolyn Russell, from Canada.
Sixth seed Russell also claimed an upset by overcoming fourth-seeded compatriot Stephanie Edmison 11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 11-0.
