Title Sponsor & Host City Revealed for 2009 Women's World Open
The Forexx Women's World Open will take place in the Dutch city from 20-27 September 2009. An all-glass court will be a feature of the championship, at an exciting venue which will be announced later.
It will be the 25th staging of the world's most prestigious women's individual championship - and the first time it has been hosted by the Netherlands since 1989, when it was held in Warmond.
Already supporters of the Dutch Open Championships in August, technology recruitment company Forexx is expanding its sponsorship portfolio by backing the 2009 World Open.
As well as past hosts of the event, Netherlands also boast a former world champion in Dutch star Vanessa Atkinson, who triumphed in 2004.
Indeed, last year's runner-up Natalie Grinham, the world No2, has now taken Dutch representation having lived for a number of years in nearby Almere.
"With Atkinson and Grinham joined by Dutch champion Annelize Naude, home interest in the Amsterdam event will be strong," commented World Open promoter Tommy Berden.
"But Amsterdam has become such a hotbed of squash that a number of other players also base themselves in the city - including the world number one Nicol David from Malaysia, no less!" added Berden.
