England's Scott Handley denied John Rooney a second successive Garavan's West of Ireland Open title when he beat the home hero in straight games in the final of the PSA Super Satellite squash event at Galway Tennis Club in Galway, Ireland.
Handley, the top seed from Oxfordshire, beat Austria's Aqeel Rehman 3/0 in the semi-finals to reach his 14th PSA Tour final - but his first for almost a year.
In the other semi-final, second-seeded Galway boy Rooney battled for four games to overcome South African Clinton Leeuw to reach the third Tour final of his career - hoping to maintain his 100% record in finals to date.
But Handley was too strong for the 28-year-old defending champion - beating Rooney 11-6, 11-10 (2-0), 11-8 in 44 minutes to notch up the ninth PSA Tour title of his career.
