In today's (Wednesday) opening day of action in the NSC No2 Squash Championships at the Jalan Duta National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur there were upsets in both the men's PSA Tour 1-star and women's WISPA Tour 10 events in the Malaysian capital.

Local 17-year-old Low Wee Wern claimed the biggest scalp in the women's event - upsetting Australia's second seed Peta Hughes 9-4, 2-9, 10-8, 9-4.

England's No6 seed Suzie Pierrepont also crashed out to an unseeded opponent - beaten 9-2, 9-4, 6-9, 8-10, 9-3 in 50 minutes by Australia's Donna Urquhart.

The local hero in the men's event was Nafzahizam Adnan.  The 22-year-old from KL twice came from behind to beat Pakistan's No8 seed Arshad Iqbal Burki 6-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-10 (2-0), 11-8 in 61 minutes.

Hong Kong's Dick Lau also became an unexpected quarter-finalist after upsetting Egypt's third seed Amr Mansi 11-5, 9-11, 1-11, 11-10 (2-0), 11-6.
