Pierrepont Powers Into Salt Lake City Final

England's Suzie Pierrepont battled for 52 minutes to force her way into the women's final of the Squashworks Salt Lake City Open Squash Championships, where she will meet top-seeded Egyptian Engy Kheirallah at the Squashworks Club in Salt Lake City, USA.

The men's final will also feature English interest as top seed Phillip Barker will take on Australia's No2 seed Stewart Boswell.

Pierrepont, 20, from Brighton in Sussex, pulled off her second upset over a Canadian when she beat second seed Runa Reta, from Ottawa, 4-9 10-8 9-2 9-2 to reach her second WISPA World Tour final this year.

There was Canadian disappointment in the other women's semi-final where Kheirallah cruised to a 9-4 9-1 9-5 victory in 27 minutes over fourth seed Alana Miller.

Phillip Barker, from Upminster in Essex, fought back from 1/2 down - and survived a tense tie-break game in the fourth - to beat Canada's eighth seed Shawn De Lierre 11-1 7-11 6-11 11-10 11-5 in an 88-minute marathon.

The other semi-final saw the end of unseeded Mike Corren's brave run in the event.  The Salt Lake City-based Australian put up a brave fight over former world No4 Stewart Boswell, but was ultimately no match for his compatriot who claimed an 11-6 11-8 11-6 victory in 50 minutes to reach his seventh PSA Tour final in four months.
