Boswell Battles On For Sixth Success In Oklahoma
Australia’s Stewart Boswell hung onto his unbeaten record this year when he picked up his sixth PSA Tour title of 2005 by winning the Baker Group Oklahoma Open Squash Championship trophy in Oklahoma City, USA.
It was the perfect way for the former world No4 from Canberra to celebrate his 27th birthday. Boswell is enjoying a sensational return to the PSA Tour after a two-year layoff while suffering with a mystery back ailment.
He began his comeback at the South Island Championships in New Zealand in April and, after winning his fifth title in Mexico in June, arrived in Oklahoma as third seed. He made his breakthrough in the semi-finals against top seed Phillip Barker, beating the Englishman 11-5 11-6 11-7.
In the final, Boswell faced unseeded Shawn De Lierre, the Canadian who earlier in July won the Houston Open in the USA.
The Australian was too strong for De Lierre, however, sweeping to an 11-4 11-7 11-1 victory in just 21 minutes to record his 31st win in a row – and the 13th title of his career.
