Delighted De Lierre Delivers In Houston

Canada's Shawn De Lierre claimed his second career PSA Tour title in style in Houston when he upset second seed Mark Heather in the final of the Sanders Morris Harris Houston Open Squash Championship to maintain his 100% record in PSA finals.

De Lierre, the 23-year-old fourth seed who is now based back in Montreal, the city of his birth, led Heather after the first two games.  But the Englishman then slowed down the pace, forcing long rallies, to reduce the deficit.

However, the Canadian regained control of the 'T' in the fourth game, and hit tight straight and cross court shots and a couple of volley nicks to clinch the title 11-8 11-8 5-11 11-6 in 37 minutes.

It was a confidence-boosting win for De Lierre, following a disappointing first round exit in his previous event, the Queretaro Open in Mexico in June - and follows his only other appearance in a PSA Tour final when he won the Quebec Open on home soil in March last year.
