Petersen Powers Through To Carcassone Semis

Denmark's Ellen Petersen, who combines her love of squash with a career as a newly-qualified doctor, swept through to the semi-finals of the Women's Carcassone City Open in Carcassone, France.

Unseeded, the 30-year-old from Odense despatched local star Corinne Castets, the defending champion and No7 seed, in straight games in the first round, then brushed aside England's fourth seed Sarah Kippax 9-2 9-5 9-3 to claim an unexpected place in the last four.

Now only one match away from her second final appearance in Carcassone in two years, Petersen will face Rebecca Botwright, the top seed from England who beat compatriot Kirsty McPhee 9-6 9-4 9-2.
