Rosner, the 17-year-old second seed from Wurzburg, beat Frenchman Castagnet 9-6 9-2 9-4 after brushing aside third seed Tom Hoevenaars, also in straight games, in the semi-finals. By contrast, the top seeds in the women's event failed to make the final - which was a surprise all-Egyptian affair featuring 7th seed Sara Badr and 12th seed Lina El Tannir. Badr despatched second-seeded Spaniard Chantal Moros-Pitarch in the quarter-finals, while El Tannir ousted French favourite Soraya Renai in the semi-finals. In the final, it was El Tannir who prevailed - beating compatriot Sara Badr 9-4 9-0 6-9 9-7. |
