National Squash League Semi-final (second leg), Tuesday 3 May 2005 Wolverhampton v Oberthur Strings Tewkesbury Anthony Ricketts v Ong Beng Hee Alex Gough v Rodney Durbach Scott Handley v Alister Walker Mark Cairns v Daryl Selby Shelley Kitchen v Jennifer Wright Wolverhampton & Tewkesbury Meet In Final Decider The outcome of tonight's (Tuesday) National Squash League second leg semi-final between Wolverhampton and Oberthur Strings Tewkesbury is sure to provide a newcomer to the final in three weeks - but will it be hosts Wolverhampton, who clinched a 3/2 victory in the first leg, or the visitors from Gloucestershire who are in their maiden season in the event? The decider may well be resolved in the opening women's match, in which the hosts' top string Shelley Kitchen, the world No11 from New Zealand, will take on the unranked Strings player Jennifer Wright, deputising for the injured England international Jenny Tranfield. Wolverhampton fans will be hoping that the tie will once again be decided in the final match by Australian star Anthony Ricketts, who will again face Strings No1 Ong Beng Hee, the Malaysian No1 whom he beat 9-6 10-8 10-8 in the first leg climax. Wolverhampton hold a three-game advantage over Strings - and success in the tie would guarantee their first appearance in the final. The goal for Strings must be to win both the tie, and more than three games in the matches they lose. Already through to the final, on Tuesday 24 May at Nottingham Squash Club, are title-holders Manchester/Pontefract. For more details, visit the official website: www.nationalsquashleague.co.uk |
