Toronto-based Berg despatched Ireland's third seed Liam Kenny 11-6 11-8 11-5 in 45 minutes to set up an all-Canadian semi against fellow Torontonian Graham Ryding, who was taken to four games by England's seventh seed Lee Drew before prevailing 11-10 11-6 9-11 11-6 in 76 minutes. The longest match of the day took 94 minutes, and saw England's second seed Joey Barrington survive 6-11 11-5 11-8 5-11 11-2 against fast-improving Mexican star Eric Galvez. In a bid to prevent an all-Canadian final, Barrington will have to overcome Edmonton-based Matthew Giuffre, who was fully stretched by Ritwik Bhattacharya before beating the eighth-seeded Indian 11-3 10-11 11-7 11-10 in 54 minutes. |
