WORLD SQUASH NEWS Squash To Be Featured In Islamic Women's Games In an exciting new development for women's squash, a WISPA World Tour event will feature as part of the Islamic Women's Games, which will be staged in Tehran, Iran, in September this year. The Women's International Squash Players' Association event will be run under the auspices of the IFWS (Islamic Federation of Women's Sport) which has membership from 44 countries. The Islamic Women's Games is contested across a range of sports every four years. Mrs Faezeh Hashemi, President of the IFWS, has welcomed the opportunity to bring women's squash into the Games. The championship will be a WISPA Tour 4 band event, taking place from 20-25 September at the Enghelab Sports Complex. Andrew Shelley was delighted to be able to add the championship to the WISPA Tour: "This is a really exciting debut for squash," said the WISPA Executive Director. "I cannot think of anything else which better illustrates the all encompassing nature of our sport as we strive towards Olympic inclusion this year." |
